
Summer began conducting workplace investigations in 2019 as part of a specialized investigations team at a large financial institution. Since joining Marshall Workplace Law, she has broadened her experience by conducting investigations for both public- and private-sector employers, including federally and provincially regulated organizations across a range of sectors such as education (school boards, colleges, and universities), financial services, and not-for-profit organizations.

Employment Lawyer & Workplace Investigator
Her practice focuses on allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, workplace violence, and related policy breaches. She regularly investigates matters arising under the Canada Labour Code, the Canadian Human Rights Act, Ontario’s Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Summer’s experience includes complex files involving multiple complainants and respondents, allegations against management and senior leadership, and matters that engage both human rights and occupational health and safety considerations. She is skilled in assessing credibility, navigating conflicting evidence, and delivering clear, well-reasoned, fact-based findings. Her approach is practical, neutral, and tailored to the operational realities of each workplace.
In addition to her investigation practice, Summer provides workplace training on fostering respectful work environments and conducts workplace assessments for organizations committed to proactively addressing systemic issues and understanding the underlying drivers of workplace concerns, with the goal of fostering healthier, more effective workplace cultures. An idealist at heart, Summer believes that people are the foundation of every successful workplace, which is why she finds this aspect of her practice especially meaningful.
Summer holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor.
